Please, let’s not resurrect the dinner whore debate here — I at least don’t expect the guy to pay, although I’ll let him when he insists, as I hope he’ll let me. Besides, as certain people would have you know about me, I’ll give it up for free. ;-)

I have a history of unrequited crushes, so it’s not just once I’ve had to experience this. I’ve had to learn to read signals better (one thing this blog has helped me with).

And I’ve learned a lot from one of my best guy friends. You might call S a manwhore, but he is fearless at asking women out and expressing interest, and gets rewarded for it in spades, even though he really doesn’t have that much to offer. He tells me, “if he’s interested, he’ll ask you out. If he’s not, then you can spend a lot of time trying to read his signals and figure out whether he’s interested, or you can move on to the next person who is interested enough to ask you out.”

Having wasted so much time doing the former, and now seeing women writing in to Moxie regularly attempting to dissect a guy’s behavior, I realized that I’m just not willing to waste my time that particular way anymore. And yes, I’m single, but there are other reasons why that I’m pretty sure are much higher on the list.
